A gold deposit with a potential volume of 424 thousand ounces (about 12 tons) has been discovered in the Turkish province of Sivas, in the central part of the country. At the current exchange rate, this is about $1.7 billion.
This is stated in a publication by the mining company Ermaden, posted on the website of the Public Disclosure Platform, Ukrinform reports with reference to Hürriyet.
“By the end of the second quarter of next year, we plan to quickly complete the compaction drilling in this region and turn all possible resources into real reserves,” the company said.
It is noted that as a result of geological exploration work, 424 thousand ounces of gold with an average content of 0.89 grams per ton of gold in approximately 14.9 million tons of ore were discovered.
Exploration drilling in this area is ongoing, and potential gold reserves may increase.
As Ukrinform reported, the deposits of rare earth elements found in the Turkish province of Eskisehir amount to 694 million tons, and Turkey does not intend to transfer the deposits to third countries, but plans to conduct mining independently or in cooperation.
